大埔4戶拒遷戶今（18）日被執行強拆，時間卻恰巧選在苗栗縣議會北上聲援縣府，大埔拆遷戶也到總統府前抗議，人不在家之際，被批評是趁虛而入、調虎離山。苗栗縣政府事後表示，是為降低衝突與避免人員受傷，才選在這個時間點。縣府還說，若不執行都市計畫，或因危險道路傷害人命安全，縣府更將背負相關刑責，因此是在「不得不的情況下，選擇此時機點進行拆除」。
苗栗縣府上午開始集結警力與機具，在抵達拆遷戶旁後便拉起封鎖線，阻隔民眾。在執行斷水斷電，進入房屋搬出屋內物品後便展開拆除工作。
因為苗栗縣議會與支持拆遷的居民今日北上聲援縣政府，反迫遷團體也選在上午前往總統府前抗議，包含2戶大埔拆遷戶在內，在大埔現場的抗爭民眾人數減少，縣府在執行拆除時沒有遭遇太多阻礙。
苗栗縣府表示，對於今天上午執行拆除竹南科都市計劃案公共設施工程範圍內逾期建物遷移工作，造成用路人的不便首先向鄉親大眾致上歉意。
根據苗栗縣政府發佈新聞稿指出，縣政府一直審慎考量如何執行拆除工作，同時也要求各單位必須要注意降低或避免抗爭與人員受傷。選擇18日上午9時40分進行相關拆除工作，「是考量本府應本縣議會游議長及議員北上立法院召開記者說明會，且本府已多次利用各種管道讓全國鄉親更清楚了解事情原委與真相」。。 (接下一頁)
