颱風改名　「奇比」變「燕子」

【陳嘉恩／台北報導】中央氣象局今天宣布即起更改部分颱風譯名，改用意譯取代音譯，第1個改名的颱風，將是今年下1個、編號第9號的Jebi，原譯名「奇比」，新譯名「燕子」。總計有38個颱風的中文譯名變動，例如由日本新提供的颱風名稱Hato翻譯為「天鴿」，Kirogi原譯名「奇洛基」變更為「鴻雁」等。  

氣象局表示，原本翻譯颱風的中文譯名，以音譯為主、意譯為輔，但考量颱風名稱包括動物、植物、神話人物、珠寶等，音譯較無法適當反映原文涵義，民眾也常問颱風原文涵意為何，因此這次增修颱風譯名時，一併調整其他譯名，改以意譯為主、音譯為輔。過去的颱風中文譯名則不追溯變更。
