Alex Rodriguez復出、禁賽、上訴後，首度在洋基隊主場出賽，也是相隔快10個月，再度回到紐約打球。在這個現場夾雜著呼聲、噓聲的夜晚，A-Rod全場4打數沒安打，還被三振3次。
「今晚加油聲、噓聲各半吧，也許歡呼聲還比較多一些，」教頭Joe Girardi說，「他不能受到影響，必須為我們保持專注。他以前也被噓過，知道該怎麼處理。」
兩天前，還在芝加哥打客場比賽的A-Rod，迫不及待透露，希望回到主場，在紐約鄉親面前打球。「我已經等很久了，」A-Rod說，「禮拜五那天，我就可以再度回到紐約，碰上強悍的對手，真興奮。」
強悍的對手，指的是老虎隊，正是去年洋基隊在美聯冠軍賽的敵人。當時A-Rod表現不佳，甚至被換代打、坐板凳，結果洋基被淘汰，A-Rod成為箭靶，飽受紐約客批評。10個月後，A-Rod重回紐約的第一戰，又碰上老虎隊，真是宿命般的巧合。
賽後，A-Rod沒有接受訪問。午夜時分，洋基隊媒體公關Jason Zillo告訴守護在現場的記者，A-Rod已經離開。 (接下一頁)
