苗栗縣前竹南地政事務所主任賴紹本自殺身亡，家屬對死因有疑義，還有部分媒體探討是否與大埔案有關，苗栗縣府25日發出聲明，籲請法務部能適時說明或釐清。
民國100年5月底，賴紹本被發現陳屍於竹南鎮龍鳳漁港觀景台左側消波塊旁，檢警在車內找到一封遺書，內容交代妻子照顧母親及子女，調查研判是自殺身亡。
但家屬認為，賴紹本當時退休在即，生前無異狀，沒有自殺理由，而且賴紹本手機收發話訊號位置也有問題；另外，遺書有錯字、錯字修改處非死者筆跡；最弔詭的是，賴是海軍陸戰隊退伍，水性很好，真想自殺，怎可能選擇跳海？
加上近日新聞報導及政論節目，質疑賴死因不單純，直指與縣長劉政鴻胞兄變更土地案遭施壓有關，甚至扯上大埔案。
縣府為此發聲明指出，賴死亡案件皆由苗栗地檢署調查與認定，縣府無從置喙。 對於賴家屬提出對死因鑑定疑義部分，縣府籲請法務部能適時說明或釐清，如有重啟調查，且須縣府配合調查事項，縣府定當全力配合。
縣府表示，部分媒體故意連結其他同仁死亡案件，扭曲真相，造成其他同仁家屬二度傷害，縣府期期以為不可，也呼籲相關媒體停止傷害行為。
