非洲國家突尼西亞內政部證實，有突國婦女自願遠赴敘利亞參加「性聖戰」（sex jihad），願意獻身企圖推翻叙利亞總統阿薩德(Basharal-Assad)政權的反抗軍。
突尼西亞為「阿拉伯之春」革命的發源地，近日突國內部不斷謠傳有當地女性自願遠赴敘利亞參加「性聖戰」。突國內政部班傑杜19日在國會報告時證實，該國許多婦女近期以「性聖戰」名義前往敘利亞「勞軍」。
他指出，這些女性到了敘利亞之後和多達20~30名，甚至100名反抗軍發生性關係，許多人因而懷孕而返回突尼西亞。不過，班傑杜並未指出，這些性戰士有多少人，媒體則推估約有數百人。班傑杜強調，過去當局加強邊境管制，阻止6,000名年輕突尼西亞人到敘利亞。
雖然依據部分國家的伊斯蘭法律，女性通姦可判處死刑，但對許多死忠的遜尼派穆斯林而言，和多個伴侶發生婚姻之外的性關係，卻算是合法的聖戰型態。許多突尼西亞家長憂慮，宗教狂熱分子四處散步錯誤的「性聖戰」思想，將他們的女兒帶到敘利亞與反抗軍發生性關係。
